Opponents of the current false start rule were very vocal, calling for its immediate modification. The current rule went into effect on January 1, 2010 and has been heavily debated as to its fairness to the athletes. James finished ahead of Bahamas’s Fireman Brown, who established a season best 44.95 seconds, with the American McQuay in third in 45.00 seconds. Young, a member of the Racers Track Club smashed his previous personal best time of 20.42 seconds that he established at the 2012 Jamaican Olympic trials on June 30th.
