Kemoy Campbell Earns SEC Cross Country Honors

Twenty-one year old Kemoy Campbell  was named to the 2012 First-Team All SEC Men’s Cross Country team be virtue of his 4^th place finished at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Cross Country Championship held at the Percy Warner Park in Nashville Tennessee on Friday October 26. Campbell, a native of Jamaica completing for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, completed the 8K course in 23 minutes, 55.38 seconds. Campbell’s 4^th place performance along with fellow teammates Solomon Haile (23:47.27) and Eric Hernandez (23:52.16) for 2^nd and 3^rd place respectively, was instrumental in securing the Razorbacks 20^th SEC cross country title. In only his first season with the Razorbacks, Campbell continues to garner more honors and recognition. Campbell had spent the past two seasons at South Plains College, where he attained several All-American honors, highlighted with being crowned the 2011 NJCAA Cross County champion. Campbell, the Bellefield high school graduate who competes in events ranging from the 800m to the 3000m, is perhaps Jamaica’s best mid-distance prospect since Mark Elliot over two decades ago.
