For Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce it's all about Execution

“I think today it was not about the win; it was about getting everything right before the National Championships,” said Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce commenting on her season best performance of 10.92 seconds in the women’s 100m at the Adidas Grand Prix in New York last weekend.  Fraser-Pryce continued, “it is my last race before the Jamaican Championships so for me today, it was all about execution.” Fraser- Pryce got a brilliant start and exploded to the front to beat a quality field that included Tianna Madison (10.97) and Carmelita Jeter (11.05), Allyson Felix (11.07) and Kelly-Ann Baptiste (11.07).  Fraser-Pryce has now put herself in a great position to do well at the Jamaican National Championship as well as to defend her 100m Olympic title in London. Confidence-Builder Prior to her victory last weekend, Fraser-Pryce was having a sub-par season and failed to crack the 11.00-seconds barrier. Commenting on her state of mind heading into the Jamaican Championship Fraser-Pryce said, “it[victory] was definitely a confidence booster and I am looking forward to the Championship. It is definitely going to be exciting. And it's  all about who gets it right on that day.” Fraser-Pryce was also quick to point out that her victory was just one race where everything went right for her. “When you run one race, it doesn’t mean it is going to go right that day... if you drop you have to get back up and go again; that is where your confidence comes from.  In a race, you have to be prepared for anything; if you finish in last place, it’s up to you to go back home and train hard and come back to do your best.” Sub-11 performance means  she is ready for Trials “I am never an athlete who runs lots of sub-11 before the National Championship, so I guess a sub-11 race for me is really amazing. I guess my training has been going really well.  I never doubt my coach (Stephen Francis) because I have to be confident in him, so I have to give all the credit to him,” said Fraser-Pryce. “I am working on pretty much everything.  It is not just about the start; it is about everything; everyone knows that I am a good starter so the secret is out, but I have to work hard on the last part of my race,” she continues. Commenting on the Jamaican women’s 4x100 relay team chances to medal in London, Fraser-Pryce said, “a lot of people are saying that our girls are not ready, but I think we are going to rise to the occasion when the time comes.”
