Yohan Blake Makes Much Anticipated 2012 Debut Today

Perhaps no other male sprinter had a more successful 2011 season thanJamaica’s Yohan Blake. The 23-year-old former St Jago high school standout became the youngest 100m world champion en route to establishing personal bests in the 100m (9.82) and 200m (19.26). He was an integral part of the Jamaican world record setting 4x1 relay team (37.04). With Usain Bolt having a down 2011 season, Blake  seized the opportunity to propel himself into the  stratosphere of sprinting and ended his 2011  season on a climatic note, running a scintillating 19.26 seconds in the 200m, the second fast time ever in that distance. During the offseason, Blake did television appearances, signed a few endorsement deals and launched his YB Afraid Foundation. New Season, New beginning Today, Yohan goes back to work by competing in the 100m at the UTech Classics in Kingston, Jamaica and could become the first sub-10 100m performer of the season. Blake will later join Racer Track Club teammates Usain Bolt and others in the 4x1 relay. The Racers Club will compete against the MVP Track Club team lead by former 100m world record-holder Asafa Powell.  With bragging rights on the line, these match-ups should provide lots of fireworks in addition to fast times.
