Bermuda’s Aaron Evans is Back on Track.

Reid Bermuda’s Aaron Evans captured the men’s 800m title in a season best 1.48.22 seconds at the SEC Conference Championship held in Lexington, Kentucky this past weekend [February 24-26]. Evans who had a 2012 season best 1.47.88 seconds in the 2-lap events told the University of Georgia website “Finally, after three years I won after being so close. This is a testament to all of our hard work. All the early mornings, the runs in the rain and long hours, it paid off.” The victory seems most satisfying for Aaron who is rebounding from a 2011 season, where he sustained an injury that kept him from competing in the 2011 NCAA outdoor championships and possibly the Daegu World Championships.  Aaron’s performance so far this season, signals that he is back on track and he should be a factor in the 800m at the NCAA Indoor Championship in early March.  Evans has a lifetime best of 1.46.26 second (outdoors) in the 800m which is the Bermudian national record. Grenada’s Colleen Felix who is a teammate of Evans at the University of Georgia won the triple jump title in a personal best 42-8.25. This is Felix’s 2^nd SEC triple jump title in a row.
