At the 2023 Zurich Diamond League meet held on August 30-31, 2023. The first Diamond League meet held after the Budapest World Championship, there were some great performances posted by several newly crowned champions including Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Richardson, Danielle Williams, Armand Duplantis and Yulimar Andrea Rojas. India’s Neeraj Chopra and Norway’s Karsten Warholm has to settled for second places in their respective events.

Richardson wins again in Women’s 100m
World Champion, Sha’Carri Richardson of the USA won the women's 100m final in 10.88 (-0.2 mps), to defeat Natasha Morrison and Elaine Thompson-Herah of Jamaica, who were credited with 11.00 for second and third, respectively. The field was rounded-out by Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland (11.08), Shashalee Forbes of Jamaica (11.12), Twanisha Terry of the USA (11.13), Zoe Hobbs of New Zealand (11.14), Tamara CLARK of the USA (11.23) and Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas (11.39).
Shericka Jackson rules the Women’s 200m Final
The back-to-back World Champion, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, won the women's 200m final in 21.82 (-0.8 mps), while Daryll Neita of Great Britain was second in 22.25 and Kayla White of the USA was third in 22.33. The field was rounded-out by Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland (22.46), Twanisha Terry of the USA (22.57), Anthonique Strachan of Bahamas (22.65), Jenna Prandini of the USA (22.78) and Tamara Clark (22.94).
Laura Muir wins Women’s 800m
Laura Muir of Great Britain, won the women's 800m final in 1:57.71, while Catriona Bissett of Australia was second in 1:58.77 and Adelle Tracey of Jamaica was third in 1:59.05. The field was rounded-out by Nia Akins of the USA (1:59.29), Rénelle Lamote of France (1:59.33), Raevyn Rogers of the USA (1:59.35), Audrey Werro of Switzerland (1:59.50), Lore Hoffmann of Switzerland (2:00.09), Natoya Goule-Toppin of Jamaica (2:00.10), Sage Hurta-Klecker of the USA (2:00.51) and Halimah Nakaayi of Uganda (2:01.25). Ellie Sanford of Australia did not finish.
Danielle Williams golden in Women’s 100m Hurdles Final
The World Champion, Danielle Williams of Jamaica, won the women's 100m Hurdles in 12.54 (-0.2 mps), while Alaysha Johnson of the USA was second in 12.58 and Kendra Harrison, also of the USA, was third in 12.59. The field was rounded-out by Tia Jones of the USA (12.62), Megan Tapper of Jamaica (12.64), Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland (12.73), Nia Ali of the USA (12.75), Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas (12.75) and Skrzyszowska of Poland (13.10).
Winfred Mutile Yavi outlasts the field in Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Final
Winfred Mutile Yavi of Brunei won the women's Steeplechase in 9:03.19, while Beatrice Chepkoech of Kenya was second in 9:03.70 and Faith Cherotich of Kenya was third in 9:07.59. Another victory for Rojas in the Women’s Triple Jump
The World Champion, Yulimar Andrea Rojas of Venezuela, won the women's Triple Jump in 15.02m, while Shanieka Ricketts of Jamaica was second in 14.78 and Liadagmis Povea of Cuba was third in 14.73. Lyles best Knighton in Men’s 200m Final
The men's 200m Final was ran in a - 0.5 wind, and was won by Noah Lyles of the USA in a time of 19.80. The other American, Erriyon Knighton, posted 19.87 for second, while Zharnell Hughes of Great Britain was third in 19.94. The top half of the field was rounded out by Kenneth Bednarek of the USA, who posted 19.98 for fourth. The bottom half of the field was rounded-out by Andre Degrasse of Canada (20.26), Aaron Brown of Canada (20.39), Joshua Hartman of Germany (20.43) and William Reais of Switzerland (20.66).
World Champion Warholm falls to McMaster in Men’s 400m Hurdles
Kyron McMaster of the British Virgin Islands won the men's 400m Hurdles in 47.27, ahead of the World Champion, Karsten Warholm of Norway (47.30) and Alison Dos Santos of Brazil (47.62), respectively. The field was rounded-out by CJ Allen of the USA (48.28), Wilfried Happio of France (48.42), Trevor Bassitt of the USA (49.39) and Julien Bonin of Switzerland 50.34. Roshawn Clarke of Jamaica did not finish.
Yared Nguse of the USA wins Men’s 1500m Final
The men's 1500m Final was won by Yared Nguse of the USA in 3:30:49, while Josh Kerr of Great Britain was second in 3:50:51 and Abdel Kipsang of Kenya was third in 3:30:85. Mutaz Essa leaps to victory in Men’s High Jump Final
Mutaz Essa Barshim of Qatar won the men's high jump in 2.35m, while Hamish Kerr of New Zealand cleared 2.33m for second, and Sanghyeok Woo of Korea was third with an effort of 2.31m. Armand Duplantis of Sweden won the men's Pole Vault Final with a 6.00m clearance, while Sam Kendricks of the USA was second with 5.95m and KC Lightfoot of the USA was third with 5.85m. Newly crowned world Champ Neeraj Chopra second in Men’s Javelin Throw
The men's Javelin Throw Final was won by Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic with a distance of 85.86m, while Neeraj Chopra of India was second with 85.71m and Julian Webber of Germany was third with 85.04m.
