The sixth staging of the Racers Grand Prix took place at the National Stadium, Kingston, Jamaica, on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The meet covered thirteen events and featured a number of high caliber international stars.
Men’s 100m Final – Wind: +0.9
Oblique Seville of Jamaica posted a personal best and world leading 9.82, to win the men’s 100m final, while the Noah Lyles of the USA was second in a season best 9.85 and Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenya was third in 10.02. The field was rounded-out by Kendal Williams of the USA in 10.06, Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain in 10.09, Josephus Lyles of the USA in 10.14, Kadrian Goldson of Jamaica in 10.18 and Tyquendo Tracey of Jamaica in 10.30.
Women’s 100m Final – Wind: +1.3
Julien Alfred of St. Lucia won the women’s 100m in meet record 10.78, to equal the mark set by Shericka Jackson in 2023. Krystal Sloley of Jamaica posted 10.99 for second, while Sashalee Forbes of Jamaica was third in 11.05. The field was rounded-out by Tina Clayton in 11.17, Remona Burchell of Jamaica in 11.20, Alana Reid of Jamaica in 11.25, Mikah Brisco of the USA in 11.31 and Kemba Nelson of Jamaica in 11.35.
Men’s 200m Final – Wind: +0.8
Jereem “The Dream” Richards of Trinidad and Tobago won the men’s 200m final in 20.13, while Udodi Chudi Onwuzurike of Nigeria was second in 20.27 and Brian Levell of Jamaica was third in 20.48. The field was rounded-out by Ian Kerr of the Bahamas in 20.65, Javari Thomas of Jamaica in 20.68, Brendon Rodney of Canada in 20.77, Nigel Ellis of Jamaica in 20.79 and Shamar Hoatio of Guyana in 20.99.
Women’s 200m Final – Wind: +1.8
Lanae-Tava Thomas of Jamaica won the women’s 200m final in 22.36, while her countrywomen Ashanti Moore and Jodean Williams were second and third in 22.74 and 22.95, respectively. The field was rounded-out by Kennedy Blackmon of the USA 23.08, Candace Hill of the USA in 23.09, Caisja Chandler of the USA in 23.12 and Kasheika Cameron of Jamaica in 23.78.
Men’s 400m Final
Emmanuel Bamidele of Nigeria won the men’s 400m final in 45.49, while Roshawn Clarke of Jamaica was second in 45.57 and Zandrion Barnes of Jamaica was third in 45.62. The field was rounded-out by Champion Allison of the USA in 45.96, Demish Gaye of Jamaica in 46.07, Elija Godwin of the USA in 46.08 and Javon Francis of Jamaica in 47.23.
Women’s 400m Final
Stacey Ann Williams of Jamaica won the women’s 400m final in 50.86, while Lynna Irby-Jackson of the USA was second in 51.05 and Charokee Young of Jamaica was third in 51.86. The field was rounded-out by Ashley Williams of Jamaica in 52.10, Junelle Bromfield of Jamaica in 52.16, Aliyah Abrams of Guyana in 52.44, Stephanie Ann McPherson in 53.58 and Candice McLeod in 55.59.
Men’s 110m Hurdles Final
Trey Cunningham of the USA posted 13.12, to win the men’s 110m hurdles final, while Rasheed Broadbell of Jamaica was second in 13.24 and Michael Dickson of the USA was third in 13.26. The field was rounded-out by Freddie Crittenden of the USA in 13.28, Orlando Bennett of Jamaica in 13.38 and Odario Phillips of Jamaica in 13.81. Tyler Mason of Jamaica was disqualified.
Women’s 100m Hurdles Final
Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas posted 12.64, to win the women’s 100m hurdles final, while Yanique Thomas of Jamaica was second in 12.66 and Amoi Brown of Jamaica was third in 12.73. The field was rounded-out by Talie Bonds of the USA in 12.78, Michelle Harrison of Canada in 12.99, Briana Campbell of Jamaica in 13.11 and Megan Tapper of Jamaica in 13.18.
Women’s 400m Hurdles Final
Shian Salmon of Jamaica won the women’s 400m final in 55.41, while Cassandra Tate of the USA was second in 55.60 and Ronda Whyte of Jamaica was third in 56.19. The field was rounded-out by Tia-Adana Belle of Barbados in 56.23, Deshae Wise of the USA in 56.34, Yanique Haye-Smith of the Turks and Cacos Island in 56.50, Bianca Stubler of the USA in 57.38 and Gianna Woodruff of Panama in 57.77.
Men’s High Jump Final
There was a three-way tie for first between the Jamaicans Raymond Richards, Christoff Bryan and Lushane Wilson, each clearing 2.20m. The field was rounded-out by Tejaswin Shankar of India (2.15m), Donald Thomas of the Bahamas (2.15m), Roberto Vilches of Mexico (2.15m) and Shaun Miller Jr. of the Bahamas (2.10m). Django Lovett of Canada did not register a mark.
Men’s Triple Jump Final
Jamaica secured the top three placings in the men’s triple jump final as Nineteen-year-old Jaydon Hibbert produced a World Lead of 17.75m, to take top honours, while O’Brien Wasome was second with 16.64m and Jordan Scott was third with 16.06m. The field was rounded-out by Kaiwan Culmer of the Bahamas with 15.91m, Chris Carter of the USA with 15.68m and Domon Williams of Guyana with 15.31m.
Men’s Long Jump Final
It was a Quinella for Jamaica in the men’s long jump final. Shawn-D Thomas won the men’s long jump, cutting the sands in 7.81m, while Tajay Gayle was second with 7.75m and Emmanuel Archibald of Guyana was third with 7.59m. The field was rounded-out by William Williams of the USA with 7.57m, LaQuan Nairn of the Bahamas with 7.31m, Joseph Ramie of Jamaica with 6.76m and Isaiah Holmes of the USA with 5.93m.
Men’s Discus Final
Travis Smikle of Jamaica won the men’s discus final in a distance of 65.65m, while Alex Rose of Samoa was second in a distance of 65.02m and Reggie Jagger was third in a distance of 64.64m. The field was rounded-out by Andrew Evans of the USA (64.47), Chad Wright of Jamaica (63.27m), Shaiquan Dunn of Jamaica (51.08m) and Chad Hendricks of Jamaica (50.24m).
