Injury-plagued Tabarie Henry has sights set on Moscow
Back in 2009 at the Berlin World Championship, the US Virgin Island’s Tabarie Henry finished 4th in the 400m in a time of 45.42 seconds, just missing out onhis  first podium appearance. That same year as a student at Texas A&M University Tabarie ran a personal best and national record 44.77 seconds in the 400m. Tabarie also set a personal best 20.71 seconds in the 200m.  The future seemed bright for the young and talented quarter-miler who seemed destined to wage an outright assault on the record books. But injury has plagued Tabarie and has severely hampered his growth and development. Last weekend at the New York Diamond League held at Icahn Stadium (May 25), Tabarie made his season debut in the men’s 400m B race  and finished  7th  in a disappointing time of 47.48 seconds. Injury-plagued “It has been a rough fall and spring for me,” Tabarie said. “Right now I am just trying to get healthy and I am using these meets just to see how I’m doing.” Tabarie said that he had sustained an Achilles injury last year at the Olympics which he is still trying to recover from. “I am trying to get physically ready and mentally I am scared to push my Achilles as it is still  bothering me since the Olympics...  now I have to get mentally strong so that I can take care of business on the track,” said a somewhat doubtful Tabarie. Tabarie, the self proclaimed king of the “Call to Duty” video games continues, “I can't really do much in practice and I can’t do much at the meets because if I push too hard,  I am scared I may rapture my Achilles.” Has more left in the tank   But why run, when he is still experience some degree of discomfort. Tabarie responded “I still gotta run because I am under contract, I still have to run the meets.” Despite these challenges, Tabarie is determined to make the World Championship 400m qualifying standards [45.28 – A; 45.60 – B]. “I am a veteran 400m runner so 45.00’s is a possibility this season,” said Tabarie. He continued“I am still young and I feel I have a lot left in the tank” “If I can’t get healthy this year, then I have to start getting ready for next season.” he said
